I was always wondering how it works when you buy HR views. A lot of services claim its from social media referrers like facebook, twitter, etc. How does the process exactly work and how do they get real people to sit and watch the videos for 2 minutes or longer? Sorry if this is stupid, but i am totally clueless, thank you!

They come from China of course, as everything! :-))
Just joking! I don't have a clue, been wondering the same thing, but never bothered that much to research it.

Well I personally think that it comes from bonnets. You just send the command to your zombies to visit the x page which fakes the referrer and redirects to YouTube and you set how long is the view and that is it. :)

No. Simply you put a script in your site(s)/Program(s)/Whatever (which must have a lot of traffic) and this simple script will be able to fake the ref, etc. while in the background the user its watching tons of vids, aware of evrything :)

How can the script fake referrer? Plus, how can it make the user watch the video for that long of a time?

how can it fake referrer ? add eurl=http://www.thereferreryouwant.com to your script,that should get the job done
the user doesn't have to stay more than 5-6 seconds on the website,all you have to do is make the user send all the requests that are supposing to be sent during the time that video is being watched in that 5-6 seconds that's it .

You don't understand me. Give me an example of how the process happens, not in technical terms. How does a person watch most of your video, say a video is 3 minutes long.

How retention is working?

So lets say we are going to check how YT work. Let's analyze the requests.
While watching the video, it sends numerous “s.youtube.com” requests. Depends on how much the video is viewing after one interval of time YT always send another request. This is retention request and by YT is sending every 5-40 seconds.

Code:
st=0.011&et=4.922
st=4.922&et=14.789
st=14.789&et=24.922
..........
st=300.755&et=324.68

How the heck this script work?

It's sending web request. The first request:
Code:
st=0.011&et=4.922

and final request:

Code:
st=300.755&et=324.68

How Referer is working!

Old scripts are all based in sending numerous web requests. If we analyze the requests we can see the referrer. So referer can be faked easily.
