So I was driving home earlier on, just had an amazing burger at some awesome little country pub out in the sticks. I was thinking to myself how good it tasted, then I wondered out of stupidity mostly, I wonder what the animal was like that I just eat a part of :P

I wondered if in fact it was selfish of me to eat it, I mean there are other types of food I can eat other than meat, so does that make me selfish just to satisfy taste and eating it? Then I realized how dumb I was being, got home and had some kabab and chips later on.

What do you think? :cheesy:

I eat meat, I don't think it is wrong.
It is part of a healthy diet and has been happening for millions and millions of years.
In fact its natural, look at wild animals...

My question was not that is it wrong to eat meat, it was are we selfish to do so. Meaning, there are other ways to stay alive based on vegetarian foods. Are we selfish to eat meat, just so we get our own personal taste fix.

In my opinion, no.

That's how life is, insects feed theirselvs from flowers, flowers from water, animals from plants/other animals, and humans from animals. That's how life is :p

For me I started eating a lot of fruit and vegetables to lose weight 3 years ago. Since then I hardly like the taste of meat, it's takes nasty or of almost nothing. The exception to this is high quality meat which I have maybe once per month though I suspect I will eventually stop eating it as it's nothing special to me. I have eggs, but only free range as battery farming makes me sick. I also have wild fish, not the farmed stuff which is not as healthy and frankly not as humane.

For me I don't see a problem with eating meat or find it particularly selfish as we as humans eliminated most of the predators and replaced them with ourselves. The only condition to that is we should allow animals to live a decent life (even violent predators allow that) and be killed humanely (we are better than animals after all).

I definitely don't like how some people that mass produce the meat slaughter the animals in such a gruesome way. I much rather buy meat from a farmer that kills the animal with those one thingies where it's just a swift hit to the noggin and they're out cold.

I started eating more organic and non GMO food's but it does get pretty expensive. There's no way I can fully cut meat out of my diet as I was grown on this type of food all of my life. I'm changing, but at a slow pace and that still doesn't mean i'm going to fully quit eating meat.

But to answer that question, na I don't think it's selfish.
