am planing on next format try W8 but i am a little sceptical. As far as i know, version 8.1 have already Start menu back by default i think.
At the end, you just need some time to get used to it.

Ofourse it uses 0.9gb of RAM, it's recently installed. Wait a while, add all your programs that you had before and then we will see;)

Tried Windows 8 some time ago and hated it! Why did they decide to change things that worked well for so long? Went back to 7 two weeks later.

no , just the button wish brings you back to the metro interface
but it is possible to let windows 8 look and work like windows 7 and it isn't even that hard

they are just doing what they are supposed to do
windows xp good
vista bad
7 good
8 bad
9 good
10 bad
....
and yes , i also think 8 is bad , but if they remove the metro interface , i think it's a great os , fast boot , less cpu and ram usage ( compared to 7 )
i really like 8 after installing start8 .... before , no thanks

Windows 8.1 > Windows 7
Screw windows 7 i will stick with my like less then 10 seconds boot time and overall Windows 8 is just faster at running multiple applications.
