I am not an SEO expert, but I have seen some well established sites doing that. But better wait for input from an expert.

Good. Make them to look natural (in form of a question or else) and also here and there include targeted keyword in comments. Cool

At first I thought this was a morale type question!

I know a lot do this. There are plenty who pay for services to write reviews etc. This is an age old marketing angle.

It's akin to paying for likes/comments on videos. It boosts your repertoire.

You have to pull it off and make it seem natural. If you have 30 positive reviews that are obviously written by the same person who all just so happen to seem overly excited about things, people will notice.

It's very good for SEO. The secret is to post comments on the same website niche like yours.
