Right but I mean traffic in general. Like...would it make a difference if I got 20,000 views in the first day vs 20,000 over the time period of a week?

I recommend you'd better dripfeed your video. If you get 20k views in 24h, YT would set a high threshold to your video (i.e. your vid would derank if it doesn't constantly get 20k a day)

What I noticed is that YT tracks how many views per h your video gets. So, if you boost with 20k views in first day and next days you don't boost it. You may see some rank for short period of time (day or two) and your vid is ghosted, if isn't ghosted right away.

Best tactic to stay longer in high serp is to boost with views but for some longer period of time. To make it look natural if you can, set (depending on niche difficulty) 50-100 views per hour for like one week. Try to make it look natural as you can (while boosting add comments, likes, subs). Best signal for ranking that your video can get is when someone watch your WHOLE video and at the end viewer share/like/sub your vid (likes from social exchange sites have same bot pattern, load a video, like, go out, that all happen in first 10 secs of your video and YT knows that, so that likes doesn't carry any weight, just a numbers). There are hell a lot of details to take care of, YT is smarter than ever.

Test and tweak until you polish your ranking method. GL Cool
