Hey

I read this article over here: http://fortune.com/2014/12/12/q-a-with-u...ign=buffer from fortune magazine, and some passages surprised me:

Quote:There isn’t good data, it’s all anecdotal, but I was in Myanmar earlier this year and met with the Myanmar Computer Federation. They said 60% of computer science majors there are women. In Burma you have to test into different majors, and the most competitive majors mean you have to get higher scores. Women study harder they do much better on tests. In fact, there’s a lower threshold for men to get into computer science, otherwise it would be all women.

Does anyone can confirm the 60% statistic? It look really strange to me that there are more women in computer sciences than men.

Also, men in general score higher in tests, for example the SAT average scores of men are higher then the ones of women, here's the graph:

And another one:

I show only math scores as we talk about computer sciences where math is very inportant.

So any thoughts about this, especially the fact that there are 60% of females in computer sciences?

Sincerely
Rational.

Women in Computer Science? Must be a statistic for a single school. I remember my classes being a sausage fest.

That's what I believe is the case for at least 90% of schools, just an article full of balloney, didn't expect that from Fortune.

It's not about the gender it's about the skills :)

I agree with that, and whentalking about skills in computer sciences, men lead it. Most of hackers, computer geeks, programmers & etc are men.

men are less emotional therefore they are more logical
we all know that men are better than women is some things, we also know vise versa :D (don't worry ladies)
we guys are bad at relationships and social stuffs, but it doesn't matter anyways, cpa matters more :D

A good thing sells itself, a bad one advertises itself
