Why does Firefox lag?

I just reinstalled firefox and set it up to make it my default browser. It has been under 48 hours and it is already lagging WAY PAST normal. Tabs are opening slow, typing is lagged, I'm turned off. Take it I didn't close it since then and have left a tab open. The top performing browser shouldn't do this.Shock

have you checked your task manager ? if you don't have enough ram and CPU your browser will be laggy.

Open your task manager
Find Firefox under the processes tab
Left click Firefox and Set Priority: Realtime

Tested and still laggy. Guess it is time for me to switch back to Google Chrome.

It definitely didn't lag like this at all. However when using Chrome I have some weird feeling about Google constantly watching me. Especially when choosing which Gmail account I'd like to sign in to.. hmm.

It's funny because FF recently started to brand themselves again as being the best browser around (in my Webuser magazine for example), yet, they can not even handle tabs being opened without crashing, bleh!

Kind of makes me think they are using lag to push the Firefox Add-ons page. Sure would make them seem to be a very active browser with a large public development team to back it up. Sort of like IOS on older devices.. ;)

Yep, they need to get their priorities straight. The users don't give a shit about the Ad-On's and functionality crap, it's all about the speed.
