Who Verifies Files?

I was searching for a Photoshop Keygen today and just randomly went to YouTube (I don't know why I didn't just torrent it), and tried to download someone's file. After x'ing out of survey after survey I finally got a free one and it was the ol' .rar password so I just did the email submit and ended up getting a crappy file that didn't open.

The question came to me, who verifies these files?

My point being if you're with XYZ PPD company and you upload a .txt file that says "You can download this file from http://www.rapidshare.com/coolfile.zip" does anyone from the PPD company view that .txt and go actually verify that you can get that file from the provided link?

What's stopping people from just creating landers and uploading .txt files with url's that don't exist or files that aren't congruent. I mean people make fake bots all the time that don't work, but at least the end user is downloading an actual file. What if that download from rapidshare.com got moved or removed? PPD companies can't really do anything about it.

Thoughts on this?

No one verifies the files, if i understand what you are saying, the only thing i can tell is
that its blackhat.

and people promoting blackhat stuff dosnt care about it, they just want to earn from it.
Its now allowed as of i know, but nothing stops people from doing it.

is this the answer you were looking for or didnt i read it carefully enough? :p

Obviously it's blackhat.

Yes it is allowed. All PPD companies allow users to upload a .txt file with a URL contained inside to download the actual program. I bet 80% of this forum does it that way. Some are even gutsy enough to just upload the actual vb / "hack" program to that PPD site. Despite it being against every PPD TOS I've ever read.

I guess the answer to the question is no one. No one verifies these links contained inside the .txt files uploaded to PPD sites.

I read Eions method of converting fake to somewhat legit niche. What's the point though?

Taking the extra effort to make a vb bot "or hack tool" is the same outcome as just putting in a fake download link. The only difference being you don't feel guilty because you put in the extra effort to provide "something". The means don't justify the end outcome.

It boils down to does your morality play any part in making money? For the majority of the people on this forum I would say no. It doesn't. I can't say I disagree with that mentality because we all have bills to pay.

In this particular situation though something as readily accessible as a Photoshop keygen it would have been nice for them to include the file since I did the email submit and made them a buck or two.

blackhat - quick money
whitehat - takes ages may be 1-2 years - legit - long life income

They would have to hire someone to do that but there is no benefit to the owner to pay money for this. The only way this will ever change is if the advertisers make the networks change.

This is good news though, because you can literally advertise anything for download as long as you show some proof on the lander that you have the file. Then it's just all about driving traffic.

I mean this sounds horrible, but you don't even have to have a file. Since the majority of the ones created by people here are fake anyways, what's the difference right?
