Is my vps getting hacked?

Im very sorry if i posted it in the wrong section.

Do you know why are there no Lamborghini ads on TV?

Because the people who can afford a Lamborghini are not sitting around, watching TV all day.

Did some quick research on that failure code and it said : 4625: An account failed to log on
So basically some moron is farming for RDP's and your VPS is on the list, just make sure that your password wasn't generated by the system, create your own unique custom password and rest assured you'll be okay Smile

I don't use Windows VPS, but this looks like a bruteforce attempt judging by the timestamps. It doesn't mean you're getting hacked, it just means someone is scanning IP addresses finding authentication pages. I would look on the internet how to stop this, perhaps IP Whitelisting would work. I only know how to stop this on Linux VPS, something like Fail2ban would work.

What Windows version are you using?

Windows Server 2008. I just updated the system and it seems like it stopped. I don't know if it will come back.

As long as it's not dictionary - you should be fine. I would Google how to prevent bruteforce attacks for Windows Server 08. It will either rate limit by IP, or by whitelisting IP addresses, I wouldn't rely on a single password.

I've downloaded this program https://cyberarms.net/ It locks the ip after certain number of attempts. In my case, after 50 attempts, it gets locked out forever

You should be okay in that case, a non dictionary password and an IDS is always a good call, especially for internet facing machines.

Depending on your purpose for this VPS it might be a good idea to use Linux. If you're using Massplanner then Windows is unavoidable, but something to keep in mind for the future.

Hopefully this puts a stop to bruteforcing! Cool

Helping people without asking for anything in return is a good thing, enjoy the VIP Legends.

Might be some problem with your script or your server is not really secured. Contact your server administrator.
