Smartlinks works great when you generate traffic from many countries at once - when the user will click in to link, then he will be redirect to the best available offer for his country, so you can be sure that your traffic will not go to waste.
This solution is really often used by our users and works great for them.

Hey @joa7691

It depends on the type of traffic you have!

Let’s consider that you are a media buyer and you run RON PPV (ZeroPark), Onclick (PropellerAds) or Pop (Popads) campaigns. Then, using a SmartLink is by far the best option. Why?

These type of campaigns are in blind. What does it mean?
It means that besides a target or a site ID, you won’t have additional details about which websites your offers are being displayed on. Hence, it would take you forever and cost you a lot of money to test 100 offers manually. For these reasons, a SmartLink will help you as it will maximize your revenue by displaying the best offer based on the user profile and other criteria as well.

A SmartLink is ideal for pop traffic and it will be a timesaver as you won’t need to optimize each offer one by one. In fact, everything is automatic. However, if you run Push or Banner traffic, a SmartLink is not the best option as the relevancy between creatives and landing page will be poor and this will result on a low CR (conversion rate).

Beside traffic type and ad format, be aware that all SmartLinks across the affiliate eco-system are not equal and their performance can be totally different from one another. Each network has its own rules and technology defining which offer will perform the best. Some are using very basic algorithms, others are using a Machine/Deep Learning technology, and few others (like us Smile) associate Machine Learning and DMP (Data Management Platform, that collect users data and builds audience segments) to analyse data and make decisions.

Anyway, this is another subject... but to summarize, Smartlinks can be profitable if you
1. Use the right one
2. use it in the right place

I hope it clarifies ;)

Cheers!
