Both are important, if you are only using GSA on your VPS, then 3 GB is enough, but to run large number of projects you will need at-least 4 cores.

What's better.
6 cores with 16 gigs of ram
Or
8 cores with 8 gigs of ram.

This for GSA :)

6 cores with 16gb ram. I am using 4 core with 6gb ram but giving me nice speed.

Are you guys using dedicated VPS, or shared vps's? :)
Like so you aren't the only one using those cores

Cores are important. Gsa ser i didn't saw that it uses more than 1gb for me i have a lot of projects. Always look for CPU also if you can use SSD instead of HDD.

I agree that more cores is ideal over more RAM. I have 4 cores with 6GB of Ram and my CPU is always at 75% or so with 500MB of RAM being using on a home PC with a HDD.

Using a SSD instead of a HDD will make a world of difference as well. You don't really have that choice when using a VPS provider, but on a home PC is a different story.

Short answer: More CPU.
