If it only has 5k monthly searches it is timewaste in my eyes. But it can be a start for beginners.

I always aim for ATLEAST 30k search per month.

I'm sure you will earn some money with the niche. It is not just a niche with 5400 AVG, you can count long tail keywords + related keywords.
My advice is to go with it.

You can't know unless you try. :)

What I'd say is - go ahead and give it a shot. For example, a few months ago, I was doing a media buy campaign. It had very limited scope and I almost thought that the results won't be anything near what I want. But, to my surprise, the outcome was different and sweet!

As a bonus tip and advice, I'd go to Google Keyword Planner and Google Trends, put that keyword and see what the graph is looking like (indicating growth or dying out). I'd also see whether if traffic from high paying countries like France, Germany, Netherlands or other European countries exist. If so, that's an already excellent opportunity and 5000 monthly searches alone can do enough wonders.

Hope this helps.
