"Argentina footballer is expected to avoid serving time in prison" sucks

well, he is a good player, so thank God they didn't ban him from Football :P

While I respect him for his football skill, Messi has always been on this shady side of tax evasion for some years. So, to be honest, I am not surprised with this news.

Under Spanish law first time offenders with less than 2 years of jail time need not to serve in jail they will be in probation.

He won't right now but if he gets caught in something again he will be jailed. No matter who's protecting him, Rules are rules and laws are laws you know.

He got 1 year and 9 months with suspension by Spain Law.

In Spain if you are sentenced to prison and your sentece is below 2 years you are not going to prison and your sentence is with suspension but you will have a record for sure.

If you have 2 years sentence and above then you will go to prison and have a record also.

He was close :D

No one's above the law. I hope justice will prevail.

Hi, a lot of football players have tax problems in Spain, not long ago Mascherato (FC Barcelona too) was also found guilty.

Barcelona midfielder Javier Mascherano has been sentenced to 12 months in prison by Spanish authorities after pleading guilty to tax evasion charges.
However, having worked out a deal with authorities, the former Liverpool man won't face any time in jail.
