How do I get a contribution approved in wikipedia?

I'm trying to build a few backlinks from wikipedia by contributing to existing pages. I added an article to the page (around 179 words) and added my link below in the external links section. After around half an hour, I check my profile in contributions and find that the page I edited is shown as an "old revision of the page" and that the current revision is different. I check and the current revision is the same as before, and the article I added isn't there. Does this mean that the change I made haven't been approved, or are waiting approval? If it's the first one could anybody please tell me how to get this working? Thanks

At some countries Wikipedia entries do have to be approved first (if your account hasn't enough rights for the auto-approvement). This depends on the topic, so if a trusted Wikipedia member has time to read your edit, he might approve it.

But there is still the risk your edit and your link could be removed.

I suggest you to get a Wikipedia account with higher rights, like I did, so your edits will get auto-approved by yourself.

How can I get one? Is payment required? I read that contributing a few times without adding external links might increase your reputation, perhaps it's because i added a link of my blog?

This depends on the country/language of Wikipedia.

No.

That's right. But links to blogs and forums are frequently removed, as far as I have seen and know from own experiences.

Thanks for the info. Guess I'll add a few contributions to boost my reputation. As for the language, I have joined the english version.
