How To Convince Users To Download Software That They Think Might Have Malware?

I just finished running a campaign on Facebook for a download&install offer, and I have a couple of users who commented on my ad asking if the download contained viruses.

I even had one user who was warning other users via a comment, saying this download contained malware. It also doesn't help that antivirus programs deem most programs that aren't as well-known as malware.

I'm pretty sure this is one of the reasons why my conversion rate is low.

I'm thinking of adding a tutorial on my landing page that shows how to install the program.

Anyone have experience with this?

I think that by placing testimonials like videos from "random" users who say that they successfully downloaded a clean file would convince them.

Testimonials or do comments from users on the landing page or both

Do you think user comments/testimonials will increase the chances of an installation even when an Antivirus deems that program as malware?

Yeah. If I was a user and wanted something but wasn't sure if it was a virus or not the first place I'd look is the comments. So you would just need to have some asking if it's clean and then have other people replying saying yes (but obviously making it look more legit)

In a few landing pages, sometimes there's a testimonial or a poll that says "Is this file working?", you can use banner for legit approval or make a virustotal approval to convince people download your file.

Please stay on topic. You can ask me that question on my Rewards Site thread or you can send me a PM :)

This is great stuff. I will implement something like this on a landing page soon. Thanks!
