How Much Should You Spend To Test an Offer?

I have been doing a lot of testing lately, trying to find offers that convert. Since I mainly use paid advertising, I want to know how much I should spend to determine if an offer will convert or not, or if it's even worth promoting.

Even though Facebook ads are cheap, I don't like to throw my money away. I know that everything I do is a lesson, and that I'm not necessarily "wasting" my money, but there still needs to be a limit.

There needs to be a threshold where once reached, I can move on to a new offer and/or niche.

When do you, personally, determine that you should abandon an offer? How much do you spend to test if a certain offer converts?

This question is aimed to those who use paid mediums of advertising.

I do PPV and from My experience [ As your using paid traffic, I assume your promoting offers with atleast $4+ Payouts ] I would suggest that you multiply the Offer Payout with 3 [Three] and thats the amount you should spent for testing the offer..

Hope it helps..

Thanks..

That's interesting. I have never heard of promoting offers of at least a $4 payout as a rule. Why at least $4 and how did you come up with that number? And why multiply it by 3?

When you test offers, do you test direct link first?

Well that is what I do.. On PPC / PPV you are actually paying for each and every Clicks / Views.. so unless your promoting an offer with a good minimum payout you can hardly make a profit from it..

I dont usually go below $4 if I am using Paid Traffic..

Regarding Direct Linking, Well it depends on what offer I am wiling to promote.. If the offer page has specific indications to lure ppl to sign up, then sure direct linking should be great.. If not, I do use Landing Pages.. or if not sure, theres always "Split Testing" Wink

The rule of thumb is 3 times the offer payout as he mentioned, and 500 to 1,000 clicks is the benchmark to see if it converts or not.

Thanks for the advice. But I'm still curious, why 3 times the offer payout?

I never understand why testing an offer with $10 - $20. You can't really do that if you want to have good results. I mean, for my tests I use at least $50 to see if an offer converts. With 15 clicks you can't really test anything as this might be relative..

If you spend at least $50 to test an offer, how much would the offer payout be?
