I have just gone in search of a new domain (Blogger has left a sour taste in my mouth) and found the following:

keyword.co

Obviously 'keyword' isn't my domain lol. The dot com is taken. Should I take the dot co or are they a little crappy for SEO and such?

Domains play very little part in SEO now a days, it's all to do with the content.
People will generally recommend .com because it's the most popular so people tend to trust .com sites more, not to mention it looks better.
Any extension will work.

I personally go .com, .net then .org. If they are not available ill find another name

You should use .com extension. How Ben write up there, he is right. It gives more trusthy over the internet, but it depends on your niches and ideas.
