I'm thinking about getting a new laptop. I don't want a desktop because I need to be mobile. Need some suggestions on what to buy or hardware you guys would recommend.

For sure I want

Under $1,000

ssd hdd (Size doesn't matter)
i5 or AMD Equivlent Processor
4GB of DDR3 RAM or better
17" screen

I'd settle for a 15" if I can get all the other hardware and only sacrifice the screen.

Usage

As internet marketers you know the type of programs I'd likely run. None of them would be 24/7 but mostly multitasking type stuff. Keyword tools, Scrapebox, GSA, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, multiple internet tabs, youtube etc.

Not looking for blazing fast, instant response type of box, just something that's decent.

Any links to deals online or recommendations are appreciated.

Thanks.

It would be helpful to tell us where you're from, so that we can recommend you something that you won't have to pay border taxes for.

I wouldn't buy a laptop, if you want to be mobile maybe have a look into the Microsoft Surface 3 you will be running windows with the pro of it being a tablet and a laptop at the same time.

I bought an alienware m14x a few years ago, if you're aware they are marketed as being this super powerful gaming laptops and I consider it to be one of the worst purchases ever, their performance quickly declines.

And of course the last pro is that with the same budget of a laptop you get a x20 more powerful desktop.

I've been on the lookout for a nice ultrabook recently, but found some gaming options. Check out ASUS G551JM, Gigabyte P15F V3, I have a spreadsheet with all the ultrabooks I found interesting, if you want it pm me :)

Seriously I can't understand people who spend a ton of money on gaming laptops, desktops are so...so much better.

Completely agree, I built my desktop on the same budget, 4 years strong still a powerful machine running the latest games and I can upgrade gradually with ease of course.
