Has anyone ever received a Cease and Desist notice from a company? (for trademark, copyright etc violations)
and if so, how did you deal with it?

I havent got one by the way, I was just wondering Grin

Yes. I used the name of a popular company in a domain one time. Just had to ditched the domain and move to a new one. Wasn't a big deal.

Haven't dealt with anything like that until now even if I have quite a few domains that would probably ''qualify'' for a cease and desist notice

I want to start a file sharing and video sharing website very soon, I expect to get a lot of these, I'm just gonna put my domain and hosting in a country with such lax rules the admins don't give a shit xD

I did once from Runescape because I had used copyrighted content.
Needless to say the domain was removed and I learnt my lesson.

So it seems they would rather warn you than just come out and sue you?
Has anyone had a company take things further than a C&D?

the whole point of a c&d is to make you stop OR ELSE they will sue you

Yeah that makes sense. I thought they sometimes go after "damages" as well though?
Like hey if you don't stop we will take it further and you owe us X amount for damage to our image by your use of our trademarks type thing

Must say, count yourself lucky if they send you C&D letter.
There are so many law remedies that can be applied.I don't know correct name of that, but yes they can send you a bill to pay, with large amount of money and if you don't accept to pay that, they will sue you for sure and get 5-10 times more!*Talking about big companies and if they suffer some loss by your activities.GL
