Is an old article, I've read it when it came out. It didn't say anything actually on avoiding sandbox or gave any details.

What he did is built around 330 great SAPE links, built a bunch of 301's which all had a ton of SAPE pointing to them. Didn't really use any spam from what I saw on a quick look. Who knows if he had more hidden 301's.

SAPE is the only way if someone would want to rank fast for high comp keywords because is the only thing that skyrockets your authority, but it's more rigorous right now when compared to last July.

I thought the same about the 301's actually, does seem to be missing something you're right.
